Andy Golf is an ambitious, up-and-coming YouTube channel that aims to educated its viewers about golf through the humor of Andy Kincaid and his brother. Andy asked me to take his rough logo idea, which paid homage to his North Dakotan roots, and refine it while also building a digital content brand that’s ready for a ready and eager YouTube audience.






Strategic Overview
Brand Substance:
Vision: To create a recognizable brand that pays homage to Andy’s North Dakotan roots and his passion for golf education.
Mission: To build a YouTube channel that’s entertaining and educational to golf lovers and those interested in learning more about the sport.
Audience:
The audience persona of Andy Golf was broadly defined as golfers of all skill levels and those who are entertained by golf-centric content.
Positioning:
We determined that Andy Golf’s unique selling point is that they aim to change to the mindset that golf its boring by providing humorous, but educational golf content.
Personality:
As Andy Golf is a personal passion project of Andy’s, specifically instructing golf, we tapped into the professional, sporty aspect of his personality. Being engaging and professional yet inviting to all types of golf enthusiasts.
Visual Identity
Logo Design
Andy Golf needed an adaptable logo that would fit every digital space that the brand planned on being on: website, YouTube (both desktop & mobile versions), social media. Along with being digitally present, they wanted the logo to be usable on apparel and other types of merch in the future.
Because Andy already had a rough sketch of what he had in mind, I had several building blocks to work with. I knew how important it was for Andy to incorporate his home state of North Dakota into the logo as well as emulate a pro golf design, so I went with a combo logo - a sleek, sporty stacked sans serif for the brand name on the backdrop of North Dakota.
Supporting Elements
A cohesive color palette and intentional typography were all that I felt that Andy needed at this point in his brand’s identity. I created a professional, golf-minded color palette that harkens to the elements of a golf course.
Having eye-catching typography is paramount to Andy Golf’s identity, especially when it comes to creating video thumbnails and a digital presence. I wanted the typography to reflect Andy Golf’s logo, while maintaining a professional and sporty personality.
