Louisiana Plum
logo & brand identity design
Louisiana Plum is a clothing brand helmed and created by Nicole, that’s all about comfortable, festival-friendly and handmade clothing. Nicole came to me needing a logo and the basics of a brand identity so that she could officially launch her brand. Together we defined what is at the core of Louisiana Plum as well as establish a long-lasting identity that will carry this brand from infancy to maturity.

Strategic Overview
Brand Substance:
Vision: To create a recognizable brand amongst festival goers by becoming a staple in local consignment stores.
Mission: To create hand-made clothes that are comfortable, bring joy and will make wearers feel beautiful.
Audience:
The audience persona of Louisiana Plum was defined as Stephanie, a twenty-something New Orleanian who regularly attends festivals throughout the South. She’s a proponent for supporting local business and is constantly on the look out for clothiers that offer breezy and comfy dresses that have a festive vibe.
Positioning:
We defined Louisiana Plum’s unique in that they provide clothing made using locally-made, natural fabrics. On top of that, Nicole has a unique fashion-POV, as she’s from New Orleans and has been a regular festival goer for most of her life.
Personality:
With Louisiana Plum being deeply personal to Nicole we tapped into who Nicole was and what it is that makes her special, which was her casual happiness and bright, fun-loving personality.
Visual Identity
Logo Design
Louisiana Plum needed an adaptable logo to fit tags, signage and digital storefront restrictions. So, I designed a combination logo that could be separated into individual parts - a wordmnark & logo mark - to achieve adaptability.
To call on the hand-crafted aspect of the brand the plum blossom was hand-drawn and the font was modified give the logo a sense of playful individualism.
Supporting Elements
A cohesive color palette and intentional typography were all that I felt that Nicole needed as the stepping stones to maintain a long-lasting brand identity. I used this elements to call upon fashion-minded side of Louisiana Plum’s persona - bright, retro, breezy and joyful.
Utilizing legible typography was important to Nicole as the logo and information about the products would be mostly small-scale.
I needed a logo and had seen Samantha's work for years on Instagram, so I knew that she could create something far better than what I was trying to pull off. She took my rough business ideas and turned them into a beautiful logo along with a color palette & examples of what it would look like on various media. She was also very communicative through the whole process. I liked seeing all the pieces come together into this beautiful package, and it was so much more detailed than I had imagined. I appreciate every bit of guidance along the way. I would definitely recommend Something New Designs for graphic design.
